Pets are great! They can be loyal, fun, sweet, mischievous, exciting and mighty cute! With pets of course there's so many personality types and it's to go without saying we want something to remember them by.
Getting to capture the pictures of these wonderful creatures, or should I say family members, is so fun. So how do you do it?
Well remember I named off some of the personality types of these adorable members of the family? You try to capture the very subtle (or not so subtle,) moments that define their personality.
It all starts by following the guidelines of the exposure triangle (which is a different post.) This is shutter speed, aperature and exposure. With pets you typically want a wide aperature, fast shutter and low ISO.
You want to capture the dogs emotionally by shooting in a way that pulls at our heart strings. It's about showcasing who they are and what they do. Think of these animals as you would humans and shoot to create a connection.
I love shooting to connect. Don't be afraid to get down low and be on their level. Shoot as they smile, they wink, and so on. It's all about creating a scene and telling a story.
You got this!
Here's some professional shots from my pet photography portfolio: (Enjoy!)
