When it comes to doing detail shots in photography it's all about shooting items that tell a story. It's about what represents the moment. Lets look at some examples:
**You're shooting a wedding. You've already done key shots, family shots and so on. Now you need to add a little detail. So what do you shoot?
-The rings. They are going to be wearing these rings the rest of their marriage. It's so important to them so it should be to you too.
-The flowers. Often the bridesmaids will have flowers these are a great add on to the photography checklist.
-When the groomsmen are fixing ties, cuffs and so on. Great shots call for great detail.
-The dress, the venue, the wedding card for all the signatures.
-The wedding cake, the napkins if they have names on it or letters, so on.
-In times of bad weather it is also good to capture something that symbolizes that.
